Trans-Pennine Upgrade

Highways England
Highways England is consulting with the public on improving road connections across the Pennines between the Manchester and Sheffield city regions.

The existing route provides a key connection between these two important northern city regions, but it suffers from significant congestion, poor journey times and reliability, and high accident rates.
